#GaySA General Rules
- Any user, by entering #GaySA, automatically agrees to both the rules of #GaySA and ZANet.
- Monitor this website for changes to and or updates usage and rules. "I didn't know" will not be accepted as an excuse.
- #GaySA is visited by adults and kids alike. Nicknames that are inappropriate for youngsters to see are not allowed. Drug-related, sexually explicit, racially offensive or religiously offensive nicknames are also not allowed. Let common sense guide you. If you can’t decide for yourself whether a nick is inappropriate or offensive ask a SOP or an AOP.
- In the open channel:
- You may not paste anything that has been said to you in private (particularly by other users of the channel). What takes place in private must stay private. Personal disagreements must stay private as well;
- You may not trawl or cruise, i.e. you may not solicit or offer sexual activity, rather change your nick to reflect your location and or age.
- You may not advertise, promote, or provide URL links to, any kind of pornography;
- You may not advertise, promote, or provide URL links to, any commercial enterprises (neither in the open channel, nor in your quit message);
- You may not advertise any other IRC channel (neither in the open channel, nor in private);
- You may not divulge anyone’s telephone numbers or physical, postal and or email addresses;
- You may not use or divulge anyone’s actual names, or divulge anyone’s age, location, occupation, personal statistics, or any private information about them without their permission.
- You may not flood the channel, i.e. post the same word, phrase, or question more than three times; or post lines comprising a string of more than 25 nonsensical letters, numbers, or punctuation marks; or post more than five consecutive lines.
- You may not disrespect any religion, or blaspheme excessively.
- Hate speech, gossip, slander, and the harassment or abuse of any user on the channel is not permitted. If you are unable to just ignore offensive and provocative remarks, then use the /ignore <nickname> command. This will prevent everything typed by that person (in the open channel, or to you in private) from being displayed on your screen.
- Do not ask or beg for ops. If you do, you’ll be kicked off the channel immediately, and if you do it again, you will be banned.
- Regulars of #GaySA are not to harass other channels and or their users.
- Any VOP, HOP, AOP or SOP must identify BEFORE entering the channel.
- VOPS, HOPS, AOPS and even SOPS found to be creating and/or supporting or soliciting members (either in the open channel or in private) for a directly competitive channel will lose their status permanently.
If you are new to #GaySA, and you happen to break any of the channel rules, an operator will usually warn you and/or ask you not to do it again. If you break the rule again you will be kicked off the channel with an accompanying kick message that explains why you were kicked. If you do it a third time you’ll be kicked and banned, and will not be able to join the channel again until the ban is lifted.
If you are channel regular who makes a habit of transgressing the rules, expect to be kicked and banned without warning.
If you have been banned and you want to negotiate your un-banning, please deal first with the op who banned you. If you think you were unfairly banned (in terms of these rules) but are unable to persuade the op who banned you likewise, you may approach an AOP or SOP to mediate in the matter. It will help if you have a log of the exchange that led to your banning. |
